Nollywood Actress Aunty Ajara Laid to Rest According to Islamic Rites

Popular Yoruba actress Ajara Lasisi, widely known as Aunty Ajara, has been buried in accordance with Islamic traditions following her passing.

The actress reportedly died in the early hours of Thursday, as confirmed by her family.

Her brother, Ridwan Lasisi, announced the heartbreaking news in a video message where he expressed gratitude to Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry who supported her during her illness.

He also urged the public to stop sending further financial donations, explaining that the fundraising account was no longer needed.

In the days before her death, Aunty Ajara’s health condition had drawn widespread attention, with colleagues and well-wishers making appeals for assistance to help with her medical care.

Emotional Burial Ceremony

Videos from her burial captured a solemn atmosphere as Islamic clerics led prayers while family members, friends, and sympathisers gathered to pay their last respects.


In line with Islamic burial customs, the late actress was wrapped in white cloth before being lowered into the grave.

Since the news broke, tributes have continued to flood social media, with fans and fellow actors mourning her loss.


One of her colleagues, Aunty Ramota, shared an emotional post on Instagram, revealing she had planned to visit Ajara before hearing of her passing.She wrote:

Aunty Ajara was well-loved for her roles in Yoruba films and comedy skits, where she often played humorous supporting characters.

She battled a prolonged illness that had caused concern within the Nollywood community.
